Daya Ram Maurya, a 65-year-old man, lives in a small house in Mohan Garden, West Delhi, with his wife Neetu and their son Rajinivas. Despite his mobility impairment from an accident, Daya Ram remains a pillar of strength for his family. However, his limited mobility and financial constraints hinder his independence. Daya Ram's family is his rock, providing emotional support and care. His wife Neetu is his primary caregiver, assisting him with daily tasks and showering him with love and compassion. Their son Rajinivas helps with daily tasks and supports his father's needs. The family is also blessed with four loving grandchildren, Sarvesh, Sohit, Aditya, and Srishti, who bring immense joy to Daya Ram's life. Despite the love and support of his family, Daya Ram struggles with limited mobility. The income is insufficient to cover the costs of Daya Ram's medical expenses, accessibility modifications, and other necessities. The family's financial situation is precarious. Daya Ram's disability and financial constraints have taken a toll on his mental health, leaving him feeling dependent and helpless.
As a driven and passionate student of BA (Hons) Social Work, I, Rituraj Rajbongshi, have been fortunate enough to embark on an incredible journey with Sampark Sathi as an intern for the past month. This transformative experience has seamlessly blended my academic knowledge with practical field expertise, allowing me to grasp the intricacies of social work in a real-world setting. Through Sampark Saathi, I have gained a profound understanding of the complexities and challenges faced by individuals living in Delhi's slums. This exposure has not only honed my communication skills but also significantly evolved my thought process, enabling me to approach problems with empathy, creativity, and a deep sense of social responsibility. As I continue on this journey, I am resolute in my commitment to making a positive impact in the lives of those in need. I strive to leverage my skills, knowledge, and experience to bring about meaningful change and improvement in the communities I serve. I am deeply grateful for the guidance, support, and opportunities provided by Sampark Sathi, which have been instrumental in shaping my growth as a social worker.
