Yash is a 10-year-old boy living in Sagar Dairy, Behind Krishna School. He has disabilities that have affected his speech and mobility since he was about one year old. His parents, Raju Kumar Singh and Jyoti, first sought treatment for him at Mahavir Hospital and AIIMS when they lived in Nagloi, but his condition has persisted. Yash’s father works in a shoe factory, who supports the family of seven, which includes Yash’s mother, grandmother, and three siblings—two of whom are also disabled. The family faces immense challenges in providing for Yash’s treatment and academic support, as well as his daily care needs. They receive occasional disability pensions, but these funds are primarily used for medical treatment, leaving little for other necessities like diapers or academic resources. They do not receive any additional support from their extended family. Yash’s family is seeking academic support, medical care, and basic necessities such as napkins/diapers to help manage his disabilities and improve his quality of life. Without intervention, Yash’s future is at risk due to the family’s financial limitations. Providing the necessary resources will help Yash thrive in his education and ensure he receives the care he deserves for a more secure future.
Hi, I’m Nandani, a 3rd-year student at LSR College. Social work has always been close to my heart. I’ve always wanted to work in the social sector because I grew up seeing how inequality affects people's lives. Watching people around me struggle with education and basic necessities made me realize that I wanted to be part of the solution. I believe that education is the key to changing people’s futures, and improving access to education can transform lives. My passion for social work stems from my desire to help those who need support, just like Yash and his family. I am committed to ensuring that Yash receives the academic and medical support he needs to overcome his challenges and pursue a brighter future. For me, this is not just a cause; it’s about making real, lasting change in people’s lives.
